NEW ALBUM ‘POWERS OF OBSERVATION’ - APRIL 24TH
Los Angeles-based violinist, composer, and looping artist Chris Murphy, known by his moniker Seven Crows, is set to release his second instrumental album, Powers of Observation, a striking exploration of ambient, post-rock, and experimental soundscapes built entirely from the dynamic voice of the electric violin.
Following the critical acclaim of his 2023 album Secrets of Navigation - praised as “stunning” (The Bandcamp Diaries) and “ambient music that glides along flawlessly” (Skope Magazine) - Murphy continues to expand the sonic possibilities of the violin.
Blending mystical textures with lyrical intensity, Powers of Observation creates a captivating sonic journey that lingers long after the final note.
Recorded in Portland, Oregon with noted producer Gregg Williams, Powers of Observation is a 14-track collection that channels influences from classical, jazz, electronic, world music, and experimental traditions. Every sound on the album was created exclusively with Murphy’s five-string electric violin and an array of guitar pedals, resulting in a haunting and immersive atmosphere that feels both intimate and cinematic.
